Photo Gallery #3: “FEEDBACK” exhibition

The achievements of American modernist artists, who came into their own in the 1940s taking cues from the émigré artists who had fled war-torn Europe, were quickly absorbed on the Old Continent. The modernization of American art in the 20th century resulted in many new developments, which were recognized outside of the United States. Concepts such as the ready-made, action painting, color field painting, hyperrealism, pop art, land art, and the happening were accepted into the vocabulary of art.

Works by artists associated with the Art Department at UMCS resound with inspirations, fascinations, and affinities with American art. “Feedback” is an attempt to trace American motifs and influences mainly in works by painters, as the most important contributions by American artists have been made in this field.

The artists included in this show are: Krzysztof Bartnik, Jakub Ciężki, Mariusz Drzewiński, Piotr Korol, Donat Kowalski, Robert Kuśmirowski, Marek Mazanowski, Artur Popek, Kamil Stańczak, Krzysztof Szymanowicz, Sławomir Toman, Anna Waszczuk, and Tomasz Zawadzki.
